Ms. Cynthia L. Harrold

Ms. Cynthia Leona Harrold

Born in St. Louis Missouri but raised in Saginaw, Michigan. Ms. Harrold is a multipotentialite with versatile dance training, experiences, abilities.  She received most of her beginner and intermediate dance lessons at Kelle' Studio, the community center, and through school teams and private lessons from Mrs. Churi Level in Saginaw, MI. And  gymnastic training through Karolyi Gymnastics in Texas. 

Throughout high-school Ms. Harrold was captain of the Buena Vista High School Marching Band Dancing “Divas” where she also developed the skills of flag corps and baton twirling. Danced competitively on a champion team in jazz, pom, kick and open production categories on the Showcase Unlimited & Ameri-cheer/Dance competition circuits. She was Michigan three time regional dance champion representative for the NAACP ACT-SO National competition. Being selected to dance a part of the selected dance troupe at the ACT-SO National ceremonies was one of Ms. Harrold’s highlights that opened her perspective that every child should dance and grace a stage and through that journey, be surrounded by the love and support within the dance community.

Trained in Contemporary/Modern techniques of Horton, Graham, and Duhamn, Russian ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, and tap. With practices in barre method, yoga and pilates. Cultured in street dance styles such as; hip hop, krump, afro-fusion, and has a passion for african dance styles. Ms.Harrold also has goals to expand into Social Emotional Learning Yoga, Capoeira, Art and Dance Therapy and becoming a Master Duhman Teacher.

Ms. Harrold attended Central State University where she danced with The Invincible Marching Marauders “Dancing Belle '' auxiliary team.  During her college years she served as President of the Visual Arts Club, Was the Visionary, Co-Founder, and Co-Troupe Leader of The National HBCU Champions in Dance “The Universal Dance Troupe” also known as “The Black Diamonds.”  Ms. Harrold held the position as CSU Intern Auxiliary Director for the Central State University Invincible Marching Marauders Band, where she innovated and choreographed the auxiliary into a new direction. 

Well versed in the Arts; Graphic Design, Mix Media, Painting she is most renowned  in ceramics and sculpture. Ms. Cynthia Harrold taught as an intern faculty member at Central State University for the upper bound program in the art department. Taught at Dayton Contemporary Art Museum in the summer advance youth art intensive.  Presented Senior Thesis of the African Art Diaspora in Central State University Gallery and had traveling pieces that showcased and sold at various Art Galleries including at the prestigious William Bling Davis Art Gallery in Dayton Ohio. 

She also has choreographed and still mentors CSU Dancing Belles & Black Diamonds, Wilberforce University Jazzers & Xenia Athletic Youth Association “Diamonds & Pearls Dance organization”. Choreographed for beauty pageants, showcases, regional and national step competitions. And choreographed and mentored youth with disabilities including paraplegia students in dance.  

Ms. Harrold thanks and attributes the dance community organizations, teachers, choreographers and their continues; workshops, drop in classes and dance intensive sessions and or performance opportunities for enriching and fine-tuning her skill set (Institute for Dunham, Showstoppers, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, OhioDance, National Dance Education Organization, SELAH Dance, United AME Baptist Church, Committed To The Word, and mentors; Churi Level, Carolyn Berkley, Silvia Kelley, and Angela Wison that has given her an diverse approach within education, dance and life skills to share with her students. 

Currently, Ms. Cynthia Harrold is an educator at A+ Arts Academy where she teaches dance and visual art education. Over her 13 years at A+,  As the Artistic Director, she has built a fine and performing arts department, established an award / local, regional and national competition winning community engaged dance team. Has creatively directed student musical theatrical productions of A Christmas Story, The Wiz, Lion King, Little Shop of horrors plus so much more..

Ms. Harrold is an alumni of AMERICORPS and YMCA Without WALLS program. Advocate for early childhood education. Certified in Trauma informed Care Practices. Honoree of the Columbus Mayor Metal for her collaborative community efforts with CelebrateOne. Ms. Harrold is passionate about youth, community engagement and collaborations. Ms. Cynthia L. Harrold is the Founder, Owner and Artistic Director of Natural Talent LLC an creative arts… movement studio in Columbus Ohio.
